Hummingbirds today live in warm places like the Amazon Rainforest, where there are many flowers that provide nectar for them to eat. The rainforest has tall trees, thick plants, and a humid climate that helps flowers grow all year. Hummingbirds are well adapted to this environment. They have long, thin beaks that help them reach nectar deep inside flowers, and their wings move fast so they can hover in one spot while feeding. Their bright feathers also help them attract mates and blend in with the colorful plants around them. In the future, their habitat may change because of climate change and deforestation, which could make the environment warmer and drier with fewer flowers. Because of this, hummingbirds may develop longer beaks to reach nectar in deeper flowers, stronger wings to fly farther for food, and thicker feathers to protect them from stronger sunlight and changing weather.
