The black leopard is a melanistic variant of the species Panthera pardus. They reside in South and Southeast Asian rainforests. Their main survival traits include developed hearing, a strong jaw, night vision, a strong sense of smell, retractable claws, rosettes, long tails, and the inherited trait of glossy fur. In the future, I suspect wildfires, droughts, and increased temperatures will create a desert environment. Leopards may have an internal water storage system and a shorter tail due to not swimming. Since the iconic black coat is a recessive gene, over time, it may become tan during the day but black at night, for camouflage, evolving metachrosis. The lighter coat prevents overheating and reflects light instead of absorbing it; their rosettes could turn dark brown, blending into the bark of tree stumps. These inherited traits may be passed down generations of black leopards to help adapt in their newfound ecosystem.
