I chose the Okapi because their environmental issues are serious. The once thriving animal environment is changing due to human settlers. They create homes and other human necessities, Okapi’s also suffer from loss of habitat. The Okapi’s are vulnerable to having no tree leaves to eat or losing their home. The adaptations that happen for the animal are things like the animals developing shorter legs to eat & reach grass or bushes from the ground, as well as a longer neck, and longer snout all to eat from grass or bushes. Though their snout can also sniff out which weeds are safe and unsafe to eat, Okapi’s snouts will also develop a way to sense to sniff out a new home. How these adaptations would help the Okapi is by helping them reach other places to eat.
