In 1,000 years jaguars might look and act very differently to survive big changes in their habitat. As rainforests turn into marshes or grasslands because of rising temperatures, flooding, and pollution, jaguars could develop webbed paws to help them swim through water and wetlands. Their bodies might become slimmer and more flexible, allowing them to move easily in tall grass or between scattered trees. Instead of their golden fur with black spots, they might have brown or striped fur to blend in with mud and grass, making it easier to hide from prey and danger. Jaguars may also have bigger eyes for better night vision as they hunt in darker, thicker areas. With forests breaking up into smaller patches, these future jaguars might get even better at climbing and jumping to cross gaps and catch new kinds of animals. These changes would help them in their new environment.
