The Yacare Caiman has a long, reptilian body that is built for life in fresh water. It has a long, powerful tail for swimming and is the color black to camouflage in the water. Its diet consists of fish and has thick scales to protect itself from predators. In the far future, where all the rivers have dried up and the rainforests have turned into savannahs, the Yacare Caiman had to adapt. First of all, it would lose its heavy tail and thick scales in order to run faster and consume less energy when food is harder to catch. There will also be a slight decrease in size to help achieve higher speeds. Because they became smaller, behavior changed. The caimans started to hunt in packs to have a higher success rate. It also developed yellow stripes along its sides to camouflage in the tall grass of the savannah.
