The Amazon kingfisher lives by rainforest rivers, lakes, and streams often near wooded areas.
These stocky birds often range from 4 - 17 inches and have compact bodies with shorter tails. Kingfishers can range from a variety of different colors such as; different shades of blue and green, often paired with red, white, or orange under-parts. These birds have longer dagger-like bills for catching, stabbing or even beating their prey.
In 2000 years if we don’t protect our rainforests, they’ll suffer from deforestation and become deserts. If it does come to that, I think the kingfisher would adapt to have less vibrant colors like; tan, brown, and other dull colors. Kingfishers would probably adapt to eat other insects instead of fish and have to end up living by desert rivers and such. They would also possibly become nocturnal, so they could avoid the heat of day.
