The Anolis Lizard lives in forests, trees, and gardens. It has the ability to camouflage to hide from predators. It climbs well with sticky toes and eats insects like ants and flies. Male Anolis have bright throat fans called dewlaps to show off or warn predators. Right now, it lives on land and in trees, where it is safe, has plenty of food and uses its climbing and hiding skills to survive.
The Anolis lizard now lives in a water habitat because of rising temperatures and habitat loss. As a sea dweller, it developed gills to breathe underwater, webbed feet for swimming, sharp teeth to catch fit, and scales that match the ocean colors. Smaller dewlaps and frills could help it communicate and move better in the water. These new adaptations help it survive in its new environment.
