The boa constrictor lives in the Amazon Rainforest, currently threatened with climate change, deforestation, and wildfires. These pressures can cause the rainforest to become more arid and less densely vegetated, increasing the frequency of wildfires. Boa constrictors can adapt by seeking new hunting spots near water. Although boa constrictors usually avoid water, they will seek new hunting spots near water sources where animals gather to escape forest fires. Their light and brown camouflage patterns will fade, turning dark brown like the river water. Their tongue can adapt to become more sensitive to changes indicating wildfire such as humidity and smoke. However, due to the rapid rise of global temperatures, the Amazon rainforest can struggle to adapt to new climate changes. As a result, the boa constrictor can perish along with the rainforest due to the loss of shelter, prey, and reliable water sources.
