The short-eared dog is part of the canine family, and lives both inland and on the coast of the Amazon Rainforest basin. It’s a creature that’s rarely seen, hence its nickname the "ghost dog” and it makes its home in abandoned burrows. Presently the short-eared dog is an omnivore and feasts on most anything it can find including meat, fish, fruit, and bugs. In the future its tongue will adapt so it can eat more bugs as there will be fewer mammals to eat. Its claws will be longer for digging its own burrows. I believe in the future it will move more inland to join the majority of its small population. In the next 500 years the short-eared dog will adapt to a savannah-like biome, since the rainforest climate is changing. To survive, the short-eared dog will need to adapt quickly due to its current near threatened status.
