My animal, the rainbow boa, presently lives in woodlands and rainforests. In the future, I predict that the rainbow boa will still live in rainforests, but underwater ones. I believe this because of climate change. According to Bas Fransen and EcoMatcher, there have been a few predictions from studies that imply that sea level rise could cause up to 60% of our current coastal wetlands and coastal forests to end up submerged by 2100 (Fransen). I think, with the way things are going now and the rapidly accelerating climate change, the home of the boas will end up submerged as well, forcing them to evolve and adapt to the new environment. The adaptations I think the boa will evolve into having are gills to breathe underwater, a fish-like tail for easier swimming, permeable skin to breathe in more terrestrial environments, and poisonous mucus on its scales for defense.
