The Nasua nasua is a mammal that lives in the tropical rainforests of South America. Coatis are diurnal, and semi-arboreal. As they climb up trees, they jump from branch to branch. Coatis like to make noises as they are looking for food. The males tend to stay in the same place, meanwhile the females disperse.
The Nasua nautica is a mammal that lives in the savannas of South America. Its behavior is heavily dependent on the seasons. There is a wet season and a dry season. The Nasua nautica ranks 4th best terrestrial swimmer, however it hates to swim. It tends to spend most of its time in trees during the dry season, avoiding both fire and predators. During the wet season, it roams around looking for water to drink, and bugs to eat. It stores up on food and eats leaves during the dry season.
