The 3 toed sloth lives in Central and South America ranging through Honduras and Argentina. These places are likely to face drought in coming years because of climate change. This means that the 3 toed sloth will have to adapt to be able to survive with fewer to no trees available. To help them cope with the heat and to camouflage with the dry environment they will grow short dull brown fur. Their curved claws will become shorter and they will grow stronger limbs as they will spend more time on the ground. They will also get a longer snout to help them eat a variety of leaves, twigs, shrubs and insects. This will be a change from their current diet which is only a specific kind of leaf. The sloths will evolve to look a lot like an anteaters and armadillos since they come from the same ancestor, Xenartha.
