Margays are a type of arboreal cat that live in the subtropical rainforests of Central and South America. They are some of the most talented climbers in the world, due to their long tails and 180 degree rotating ankles. Their diet includes tree-dwelling rodents, squirrels, monkeys, birds, and sometimes even fruit! A couple of the adaptations that help margays survive is their huge eyes that help them see in the dark, and their soft, puffy paw pads that let them jump from branch to branch with ease. I think that due to deforestation margays will have to adapt to living mostly on the ground, and hunting more rats and birds than monkeys. They will have to grow shorter and less dense fur to stay cool, and learn how to swim and hunt marine animals. They will also have to try to avoid highways, and roads which are ruining their habitat.
