The present day Amazon Milk Frog spews a sticky, milk-like substance when it is stressed to help slow down or trap predators. It lives in the Amazon Rain Forest, a humid and warm environment. It has thin skin and low mucus production for a humid environment. It has a 10cm size which is good for heat dissipation in a warm but not a hot environment. As climate change progresses the Amazon will get hotter and drier. To combat the heat the Amazon milk frog can adapt with better heat tolerance by reducing body size to better dissipate heat. Alongside that they can have physiological changes to increase their critical thermal max. Thicker skin and increased mucus production can help deal with the water loss in a less humid environment.
