Today, the Jaguar lives in the South and Central American rainforests. Tan or black coats help the Jaguar blend into the environment and hide to ambush its colorblind prey. The Jaguar preys on pig-like animals called peccaries, as well as rodents, fish, birds and even crocodiles! The Jaguar’s light jumping (not light colored) movements help lower sound to ambush prey. They also walk on all fours. They also can climb and swim well!
In the future, Central and South America will become more like a desert. Jaguars will evolve to have smaller size for faster speed and longer powerful legs. Their fur will evolve to be yellow or white to blend into the dead grass for ambushing prey. In the future, jaguars will evolve to eat lizards, birds, mammals, and snakes. I chose this animal because I think that jaguars are cool, and that they are an apex predator.
