Right now capybaras are the largest living rodent. Capybara are barrel-shaped, have rough fur that is reddish-brown, are about 2ft tall, and their feet are slightly webbed which gives them the ability to swim. Capybaras live in swampy areas with lots of vegetation. In 500 years their fur can grow a greenish tint, and their ears, eyes and nostrils become slightly elevated. Their habitat will stay the same; they just have to work harder for food. In 1,000 years capybaras’ habitat becomes swampier and humid. Capybaras become smaller and their fur becomes green due to algae growth which enables camouflage. Vegetation that is poisonous to other animals wouldn’t be poisonous to capybaras. Capybaras’ habitat would either become dry causing water and vegetation to become scarce or their habitat might become flooded with water causing higher sea levels. In conclusion capybaras have changes that can affect their habitat and appearance.
