Snakes are cold-blooded. They don't make their own body heat. They borrow heat from their surroundings. In a tropical rainforest, thats preaty [pretty] easy because its warm and humid most of the time. A rainforrest snake might slide into a sunny patch to warm up like it is charging its battery, then move back into shade, leaves, or branches when it needs to cool down. In the desert, being cold blooded is trickier, because the ground can get super hot in the daytime and chilly at night. So desert snakes are smart about timing. They hide under rocks or burrow in sand during the hottest hours, then come out at dusk or nighttime when its cooler.Their camouflage helps them dissapear into the sand and rocks like a costume. You could look right at one and still miss it!
