A future Scarlet Macaw will probably look a lot like the bird today, but past research shows us that it might slowly evolve over time. Scientists have seen that when animals face big changes like shrinking rain forests, rising temperatures, and more human activity, they often develop traits that help them survive better because of their natural instincts. For Scarlet Macaws, this could mean stronger or slightly differently shaped beaks so they can eat new types of food if their usual trees disappear. Their bright feathers, which evolved mostly because they attract mates, might become a little duller if blending into the environment becomes more important for safety. Studies on bird intelligence also show that species under pressure often become better problem solvers, so future macaws might grow even smarter and more adaptable. Macaws will keep changing in ways that help them live in a world shaped more by humans.
