The Giant River Otter (Pteronura brasiliensis) is a social semi-aquatic mammal. They live in packs (bevy) and are carnivores. Their bodies are adapted to be proficient in water, with webbed feet and streamlined bodies. They live in dens in select rivers in South America. These rivers are the Amazon, the Orinoco, and the La Plata. They are at the top of their food chain because they are such efficient hunters.
The adapted and future Giant River Otter lives in the Savanna. It still relies on water for its internal functions, but has a way to store rainwater in its fur. Instead of webbed feet, it has flexible fingers and gritty paw pads. It has a tan body instead of a dark brown one and has a completely different lifestyle depending on the season (wet or dry). It's now an omnivore due to the mass of shrubs in its new environment.
