Currently, Scarlet Macaws live in the canopy in rainforests, nesting in trees. As deforestation continues to occur, there will be less and less habitat for Scarlet Macaws to live in. As a result of the loss of habitat, I predict that the Scarlet Macaw will adapt traits similar to the wood-quail. My envisionment of the future scarlet macaw, will include a different beak, designed for ground nuts, small berries, and bugs. Their eyes will be larger, used for the dimmer light on the forest floor. Additionally, the feet will be adapted to walk on the ground efficiently rather than grasping around a tree branch. Darker feathers on the scarlet Macaw will help it camouflage and will also reduce the risk of poaching, which is another cause for their diminishing population.
