To survive the warming Amazon, the Uakari monkey will need a total makeover. As it gets hotter, the monkey will grow a thinner, lighter coat to stay cool. Since there will be less rain, it will move toward the rivers, eventually evolving flatter hands and feet for walking on land and longer legs for swimming.
The Uakari might even grow "water pouches" in its cheeks to save water for dry times. Sadly, its famous bright red face will likely turn a pale pink—a clear sign that the rainforest is in trouble. If the Uakari can't change fast enough to keep up with the changing climate, it might not survive.
