Capybaras are the largest rodent in South America. They weigh about 77-150 lbs and stand about 2 feet tall at the shoulder. They have round bodies, blunt snouts, reddish-brown fur, and webbed feet since they are a semi-aquatic mammal. Capybaras are herbivores, consuming about 6-8 lbs of grasses and water plants daily. They also eat fruits, tree bark, and crops if they are in agricultural areas.
The capybara would need to adapt to life in the desert as that is what rainforests are expected to look like in the far future. Some adaptations include bigger eats to regulate body temperature, bigger feet to walk in the sand and lighter colored fur to reflect the sun off. Some food sources for them would be thorny plants like cacti or shrubs and other available grasses.
