The Harpy Eagle is one of the world's largest and most powerful eagles, known for its enormous talons that are bigger than a grizzly bear's claws, and diet of mammals like monkeys and sloths. It is an apex predator in Central and South American rainforests, though habitat loss threatens its survival. They have an impressive wingspan of up to 7.5 feet. Their prey is sloths, monkeys, other mammals, reptiles, and birds.
Due to deforestation, harpy eagles would need significant evolutionary shifts, potentially developing longer wings for wider foraging areas, a broader diet, and a darker color for camouflage. Their wings would change to a 10 ft. wingspan allowing them to travel farther. The darker color would allow them to camouflage themselves. They would make dietary adaptations to ground-dwelling animals in case canopy animals become too scarce.
